John and Jane met on a backpacking adventure in Nepal. John, a former sheep shearer, went on the trip to get some clarity about his next adventures in life. Jane — a Peloton instructor — went on the trip to explore the landscape in Nepal.
While on the trip, John and Jane realized that they had one common love — the love for hiking and the love for being outdoors.
Returning back to their home state of Oklahoma, John and Jane hatched a plan to launch a retail store centered around their passions.

In 1989, John and Jane Doe officially launched Acme Outdoors, the premiere store for outdoor enthusiasts around the state.
To this day, John and Jane return to Nepal yearly to ensure that they never forget their roots and where they came from.
Edem Meier Akakpo, artistically known as MEIER EDEN, is a dancer, choreographer, and pedagogue whose work moves confidently at the crossroads of Hip-Hop, Breakdance, and Contemporary Dance. Rooted in the pulse of urban culture and enriched by the expressive language of theatre, his artistic voice blends raw physicality with poetic storytelling and deep social awareness.Based in Berlin since 2017, MEIER EDEN has cultivated an artistic universe that reaches far beyond the city. His creations and collaborations span international dance-theatre stages, film and television productions, and festivals around the world. As a performer, choreographer, and teacher, he seeks meaningful encounters—between bodies, generations, and cultures.He is the founder and artistic director of the New Star Dance Company, a member of Team Recycled, The Funky Monkeys ( Circus Dance Company ), and co-director of DREAMERS, a creative collective he leads together with his wife, Alicia Akakpo. Their shared vision merges movement, community, and imagination into a vibrant creative practice.Deeply committed to cultural education, MEIER EDEN works with children and young people in schools, theatres, and cultural institutions.
